St Catherine of Genoa
Saint Catherine was dedicated to the Eucharist. During a period from Advent
during Lent she decided to fast except for receiving Holy Communion. It was also
told that for twenty-three years she only ate "heavenly manna." She was given
the gift of receiving Holy Communion daily at a period in Christian history when
daily reception of the Eucharist was not easily available. This brought her
amazing joy and bliss from the moment of her decision to exist on heavenly
Eucharist alone.
